Prevalence and genetic diversity of Aichi virus strains in stool samples from community and hospitalized patients.
2008
ABSTRACT Aichi virus has been proposed as a causative agent of gastroenteritis. A total of 457 stool specimens from children hospitalized with acute diarrhea and 566 stool specimens from adults and children involved in 110 gastroenteritis outbreaks were screened for the presence of Aichi virus by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) amplification of the genomic region of the 3C and 3D (3CD) nonstructural proteins. Our results show a low incidence of Aichi virus in pediatric samples and the existence of mixed infections with other microbiological agents in some cases. From the outbreak survey, it appears that the presence of Aichi virus is an indicator of mixed infections causing gastroenterit…
Determinants affecting consumers' attention to fish eco-labels in purchase decisions: a cross-country study

Are people willing to pay for eco-labeled wild seafood? An overview
2017
In the last two decades, eco-labeled seafood has been becoming an instrument of sustainability directed towards consumers, addressing a market-based incentive for better management of fisheries. In this context, several studies across the countries have been conducted about how much consumers are willing to pay for fish caught by certifiably sustainable fishing activities. In this direction, the aim of this study was to systematize the available information about the willingness-topay (WTP) more for eco-labeled wild seafood. Therefore, only papers published on ISI journals were searched on “Web of Knowledge” and “SciVerse Scopus” platforms, using the combinations of the following key words:…
Fish and seafood consumption during pregnancy and the risk of asthma and allergic rhinitis in childhood
2017
Background: It has been suggested that prenatal exposure to n-3 long-chain fatty acids protects against asthma and other allergy-related diseases later in childhood. The extent to which fish intake in pregnancy protects against child asthma and rhinitis symptoms remains unclear. We aimed to assess whether fish and seafood consumption in pregnancy is associated with childhood wheeze, asthma and allergic rhinitis. Methods: We pooled individual data from 60 774 mother-child pairs participating in 18 European and US birth cohort studies. Information on wheeze, asthma and allergic rhinitis prevalence was collected using validated questionnaires. The time periods of interest were: infancy (0-2 ye…
La mer et les fruits de mer chez Marcus Gavius Apicius – aspects historiques et juridiques
2021
Marcus Gavius, alias Apicius, born around 25 BCE, the author of the culinary work De re coquinaria, before his death travelled to the coast of Africa in order to obtain large shellfish that were to surpass those he had known up to then. This expedition was recorded by the sophist Athenaeus of Naucratis (Athenaeus Naucratita) (2nd / 3rd century AD) in Deipnosophistae 1.7b. Disappointed, Apicius, however, did not find satisfactory culinary products. In the Book IX entitled: „Seafood“ „De re coquinaria“ of Apicius we find the recipes for the preparation of dishes based on various seafood, such as: spiny lobster, European lobster, eyed electric ray, squid, cuttlefish, octopus, oyster, all kinds…
